What Are Implants?

Dental implants are biocompatible titanium posts that are surgically inserted into your jawbone and serve as artificial tooth roots, or anchors. Dr. Fisher uses dental implants to replace one or more missing teeth and to secure dentures, partials, and bridges. In many cases 3-D imaging techniques combined with computer-aided planning software, allows us to place your new implants and deliver your new teeth in a single visit.

The Implant Process

Dr. Fisher offers a complimentary consultation to discuss your concerns and what implant options are available to you. Once you've chosen the option that's right for you, he will review the details of the process from start to finish so you'll be as familiar with the process as he is. Some cases may take as little as one hour from start to finish, while more complicated cases can take a year or more to complete.

Most implant surgical procedures take between thirty minutes to two hours. You'll be closely monitored throughout your procedure and experience personal pre- and post-surgical care. Once the implants are in place, they will need time to fuse with the surrounding bone. This process is called osseointegration and can take a few weeks to a few months, depending on your specific situation.
